This is a wonderful book from anyone who is a new homebrewer to someone who is looking to take a step beyond basic brewing kits.

The book focuses on the basics of homebrewing but can also get very technical but not overwhelming either. It includes some basic recipes too. I've read about half o the book and found it was great start/5().

The perfect gifts for any beer drinker or any home brewer. It's not a well written book but it's worth reading as you get your feet wet with all grain brewing. As far as recipe designing, I don't think there's a great book that covers the process broadly.

Several good books on specific styles (e.g. Wild Brews, BLAM, Farmhouse Ales and some of the Brewers Association style books). Ultimate Beer, for instance, has a concise ~20pp "What Make a Great Beer" section, that covers ingredients and a 2 page description of the brewing process.

For a more in-depth book (without getting into actual technical brewing texts), there's Bamforth's Beer: Tap into the Art and Science of Brewing.

Radical Brewing by Randy Mosher. comes a close second for the sheer amount of beer recipes outlined in the book. However, it is a whole lot more than just a recipe book, this is the book that got me thinking differently about home brewing and beer in general and it contains a lot of the philosophy that goes into making different beers.
